Cary, NC: Wiley Nickel, a Democratic candidate for the NC Senate District 16, will be sponsoring two local Green Hope High School students to attend the March for Our LIves demonstration this Saturday (03/24) in Washington D.C.

In a statement written on the candidate’s official Facebook page, Mr. Nickel wrote the following, “On March 24th students and families will take to the streets of Washington D.C., to demand that their lives and safety become a priority and that we end gun violence and mass shootings in our schools!” Nickel went on to say, “[My] campaign is proud to sponsor Green Hope students Megan Sharma and Anjali Satyavolu to attend the march in D.C. on Saturday.”

Megan Sharma and Anjali Satyavolu will serve as Nickel campaign representatives for the March for Our Lives demonstration in Washington D.C. Sharma is a former Stoneman Douglas High School student and knew three of the victims of the February 14th attack.

In a sit-down discussion with Sharma and Satyavolu posted on the candidate’s website, Wiley Nickel states, “l believe that elected leaders have failed us on the issue of gun violence in schools and gun control. The students leading this movement are our best hope for real change.”

The Nickel campaign will be posting stories from Sharma and Satyavolu as they attend the March for Our Lives demonstration in Washington D.C., along with specific policy changes to end gun violence in North Carolina schools. The Wiley Nickel for North Carolina campaign will also be participating in the March for Our Lives demonstration in Raleigh.
