Wake County Teachers Support Wiley Nickel for NC Senate
Raleigh, NC-Wake NCAE, an affiliate of the North Carolina Association of Educators endorsed pro-public education candidate Wiley Nickel for the newly created 16th Senate District (Cary, Morrisville & NW Raleigh).
“Wiley Nickel will be a strong supporter of public schools and will work to ensure our students achieve at a high level with the resources they need to be successful,” said Wake NCAE President Kristin Beller. “A Wake NCAE endorsement lets voters know that we value Wiley’s commitment to public education.”
In the State Senate, I will work to fully restore education funding to North Carolina’s public schools and move the state forward. I understand the need to retain and recruit quality educators. I fully support an increase in per-pupil expenditures (currently 39th in the nation), much greater funding for textbooks, restoring teacher assistant positions, eliminating additional funding for private school vouchers, and providing professional compensation for all educators (currently 37th in the nation).
“NCAE is the state’s largest education advocacy organization for public school employees, and represents active, retired, and student members.”
Upon receiving this endorsement Candidate Nickel said, “I am proud to have the support of Wake County’s public school teachers. North Carolina needs leaders who will stand up to the special interest working to undermine public education, leaders who will work tirelessly to ensure that our teachers and schools have all the resources they need to prepare future generations for the 21st Century.”
