Cary, NC – Today, the Wiley Nickel for North Carolina campaign announced the endorsement of Senator Jay Chaudhuri in the race for the newly created 16th Senate District (Cary, Morrisville & NW Raleigh). Chaudhuri joins a growing list of organizations and local, state and federal leaders lining up behind Nickel’s campaign.
Senator Chaudhuri said, “I’m proud to endorse Wiley Nickel in his campaign for State Senate. Wiley Nickel is the right leader for Western Wake County at the right time. He has the right experience to lead North Carolina into the future – as an attorney, small business owner, and former White House staffer under President Barack Obama. I currently represent much of the new 16th Senate District in the Senate. After Republican gerrymandering, I was drawn into the new 15th Senate District which covers Raleigh & Garner. It was an honor to follow in the footsteps of Attorney General Josh Stein in representing Cary & Morrisville in the Senate. I’m looking forward to working closely with Wiley in the Senate and know he we will a terrific advocate for Western Wake County in this new Senate district.”
“Many thanks to Senator Chaudhuri for his endorsement of my campaign for State Senate,” said Nickel. “As a State Senator, Jay knows the importance of growing Wake County’s economy and investing in public education so all of North Carolina’s children have the opportunity to succeed. In the Senate, I look forward to working hand in hand with Jay to make sure the State of North Carolina makes a serious investment in public education and eliminates partisan gerrymandering.”
